Privacy Policy
Effective October 14, 2026
In short: ReturnGenie keeps your purchases and subscriptions on your iPhone. It has no accounts, servers, analytics or ads, and we don't collect, see or sell your information.
This policy explains what the ReturnGenie app for iPhone ("ReturnGenie", "we", "us") does with information when you use it.
Information the app handles
Orders you add
When you add a purchase, by sharing an order confirmation, pasting it, typing it in or importing it from Gmail, ReturnGenie saves the order details: store name, order number, purchase and delivery dates, item names, prices and quantities, and links to the order or product and product photos when the confirmation includes them. It also keeps the confirmation text so you can view it later.
These details are stored only on your device, in the app's storage, which the ReturnGenie Share Extension can also read. They're included in your device backups (iCloud or computer) according to your backup settings. We never receive them.
Subscriptions you track
When you add a subscription, by typing it in or finding it in Gmail, ReturnGenie saves its name, price and currency, billing period, next renewal or trial end date, status (active, free trial or cancelled), a link to manage it, and any notes you add. Like your orders, these are stored only on your device and we never receive them.
How confirmations are read
ReturnGenie reads order confirmations and subscription emails on your device, using Apple's on-device language model when your iPhone supports Apple Intelligence, and built-in text rules otherwise. Confirmation text isn't sent to us or to any AI service.
Product photos and links
When a confirmation includes a product photo, ReturnGenie loads it directly from the retailer's (or its image host's) server when the photo is shown. Like any web request, this lets that server see your device's IP address. Order and product links open in your browser. The retailer's own privacy policy applies to those requests.
Reminders
Return, warranty, renewal and free-trial reminders are notifications scheduled on your device. They aren't sent through any server.
Purchases
ReturnGenie Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; the app only learns from Apple whether you have Pro. We never see your payment details. See Apple's privacy policy.
Gmail import
If you choose to connect Gmail, ReturnGenie asks Google for read-only access to your email. It uses this access only to find and read order confirmations, and subscription receipts, renewal reminders and cancellation emails, so you can add those orders and subscriptions to the app:
- Emails are downloaded directly from Google to your iPhone and read there. They're never sent to us or anyone else.
- Only the order and subscription details you choose to add are saved, on your device, as described above. Other email content isn't kept.
- The app can't send, delete or change email.
- The sign-in credential Google issues is stored in your device's Keychain. You can disconnect at any time in ReturnGenie's Settings, or in your Google Account permissions.
- Your Gmail data isn't used for advertising, isn't sold, isn't transferred to others, and isn't read by people.
ReturnGenie's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What we collect
Nothing. ReturnGenie has no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking, and contains no third-party SDKs. If you choose to share app analytics with developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymous usage and crash statistics under Apple's privacy policy.
Sharing
We don't sell or share your information, because we don't receive it.
Keeping and deleting your information
Your orders and subscriptions stay on your device until you delete them. You can delete an item or subscription in the app, or delete everything by deleting the app. Disconnecting Gmail removes the app's access to your email.
Children
ReturnGenie isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Security
Your orders and subscriptions are protected by your device's built-in data protection, and the Gmail credential is stored in the Keychain. Because your information stays on your device, keeping your device secure with a passcode protects it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
